Growing into a record breaker
The maze at Old Down Estate has been in planning for the past five years and is now finally starting to take shape. Back in 2019, we planted each of the 60,000 bare-root yew trees by hand. All that hard work will soon be worth it because when it’s fully grown, the maze at Old Down Estate will be the largest yew maze in Britain.
Get lost - and found
With themed trails that change with the seasons – like our special Easter egg hunt with prizes at the end – every visit to the maze will be different. We also have exciting plans to build a lookout tower in the centre of the maze. Equipped with a map, your mission will be to find the route to the lookout tower and back out again in the shortest time possible.
This is a fun-filled day out for the whole family, and when you’ve completed your mission, you can even treat yourself to some well-earned tea and scones!
