Animal Antics

Schools out for summer and we have 6 weeks of animal themed adventures at Old Down Country Park! Our Animal Antics summer holidays is packed with exciting activities that bring the kids face to face with creatures big and small, from curious reptiles and wise old owls to our friendly farmyard favourites.

Every Monday and Tuesday features a new animal focus, giving you the chance to explore something different every time you visit. Mondays kick off with creative animal themed craft while Tuesdays are all about Animal Antics, where you can enjoy hands-on fun like being an animal keeper for the day and taking part in owl and reptile encounters. Children’s entertainer, Adam Allsortz will also be joining us!

Our beloved soft play bus with be open regularly and our adventure park is full play equipment for the kids to let off lots of steam. Don’t forget to stop by our animals to say hello to our goats, pigs, ponies and more! There’s something for every young animal lover this summer at Old Down, let the adventures begin.

All our activities are included in park admission* and take place on certain dates and times throughout the 6 week event (subject to changes). Please check the schedule before visiting the park. Schedule will be released soon. *Not including 'Be an animal keeper for the day'. Tickets are sold separately.

Schedule for Summer Holidays:

  • Every Monday: Crafts sessions including fossil making and paper plate animals
  • Tuesday 29th July: Children's entertainer Adam Allsortz
  • Tuesday 5th August: Reptile Encounter (Meet lizards, snakes and chinchillas)
  • Tuesday 12th August: Dinomania are back! (Meet life-like dinosaurs)
  • Tuesday 19th August: Owl Adventures (Meet owls and watch them fly)
  • Tuesday 26th August: Be an animal keeper for the day (limited spaces apply)
  • Every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday: Soft play bus will be open
  • Sunday 17th August: Country Fayre (separate ticket needed)
  • Monday 25th August: Food and Drink Festival (separate ticket needed)

"Be an animal keeper for the day" FAQ

Do I need to book for Tuesday 26th August: Be an animal keeper for the day? 

Yes! Bookings will open on Tuesday 19th August and is on a first come first serve basis as there are limited tickets available.

How much are the tickets?

Tickets are £10.50 and are for children 2-15 only. This ticket also includes park entry for the day. Each child must be accompanied by an adult who need to purchase a separate summer holiday ticket.

What activities will my child be doing?

Activities include grooming our highland cows or ponies, feeding and mucking out animals, collecting eggs and more.

How many children will be participating at one time?

There will be groups of 10 children per session (not including the accompanying adult).

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, we welcome well behaved dogs as long as they're on a lead.
