Why Low Noise Fireworks Are a Great Way to Enjoy Bonfire Night

There’s something great about Bonfire Night. Getting wrapped up, meeting friends and family, grabbing some food and watching the fireworks is a classic autumn tradition.

But fireworks aren’t for everyone. For families who find the loud bangs a bit much, our Low Noise Fireworks at Old Down Country Park offer a quieter way to enjoy the evening without missing out on the fun.

This year, our Low Noise Fireworks are back on Thursday 5th November 2026 at Old Down Country Park, Foxholes Lane, Tockington, Bristol, BS32 4PG.

There are two sessions to choose from, so you can pick the one that suits your family best.

What makes low noise fireworks different?

What makes low noise fireworks different?

Low noise fireworks are designed to reduce the loud bangs and explosions you usually associate with a traditional fireworks display.

You still get the colour, movement and excitement of a fireworks show, but with a more manageable level of sound.

That can make a real difference for families with young children or anyone who finds sudden, loud noises difficult. It means you can spend less time worrying about how everyone is going to react to the next bang and more time enjoying the evening together.

For anyone searching for family friendly firework display near Bristol, a low noise display can be a great alternative to a traditional Bonfire Night event.

You don't have to miss out on the magic!

Choosing a quieter display doesn’t mean choosing a less impressive one.

Our 12 minute low noise firework display is packed with colour and movement, with the fireworks accompanied by music to create a proper Bonfire Night atmosphere.

For many people, it’s the visual side of fireworks that they enjoy most, seeing the sky change colour, watching the different effects and enjoying that moment when the whole crowd looks up together. Our display keeps all of that, without quite so much of the noise.

A great option for families

There’s plenty to do before the fireworks start, too. You can enjoy live entertainment, grab something to eat from one of our food vendors, visit the bar, or let the children have a go on the fairground rides and toast marshmallows.

So it’s not just a case of arriving, watching the fireworks and heading home. You can make an evening of it at Old Down Country Park, with plenty happening before the display begins.

Fairground rides and marshmallow toasting are available at an additional charge.

They’re also a kinder choice for the animals and wildlife around us. Old Down is a working country park, home to farm animals and surrounded by 66 acres of countryside, so keeping noise levels lower helps us celebrate Bonfire Night while being more mindful of the wildlife and animals that call the park home.
